Here’s an album I’m really excited to show everyone. “Impossible
Spaces” is the creation of Sandro Perri, released in 2011 by Constellation
Records. The first song that really drew me in happens to be the first on the
album, titled “Changes”. The song evolves
from a guitar jam into a more electronic driven pulse. It never fails to
disappoint with an interesting array of instrumental choices that leaves the
listener wondering what’s going to happen next. The vocals are really mellow
and fit perfectly within the atmosphere of the track. The next song, “Love
& Light”, starts with a rhythmic feel through the use of sampling people breathing. The artificial sample sounds are heavily
contrasted with natural sounding drums and guitars to give this song a compelling
edge. I particularly liked the end of “Love & Light” where a guitar part
towards the back of the song comes into focus and is heavily washed over with a
delay effect. This helps to create tension and is a good lead into the next
song, “How Will I”. This song starts off with a great bassline but i thought it became a little
stagnant over time. The duration is at 7:53 so it’s not difficult to imagine why
(even though I am a fan of a well executed long song ). “Futureactive Kid
(Part1 & Part2)” are both great songs and deserve a listen, if not for the
bassoon solo only. “Wolfman” is clocked in at 10 mins but this time the length didn't me me enjoy the song less. I felt it was
nicely composed and has a nice feel to it. The lyrics are just as whacky as
on the rest of the album and they once again suit the song well. “Impossible
Spaces” is an album I know I’ll be listening to again and I heavily suggest
listening to “Changes” if you don’t have time for the whole album.

ReplyDeleteAwesome stuff! I'll have to check out the rest of the album. Can't wait to see what else you have for us.
ReplyDeleteThis sort of reminds me of Modest Mouse for some reason.
ReplyDeleteNice, I like this. It totally started out with this Pink Floyd Feel like it was off of Meddle or something and then it just evolved and evolved. Very cool. I also enjoy the island style guitar in the background. Can't wait to see what's next!
